Both are great smartphones but I have to admit the Droid is more advanced. I may be a little jealous.. :)

Re: Battle of the smartphones: iPhone or Droid?

Thanks Ash, I am keeping mine for now but will probably switch in the future.

Re: Battle of the smartphones: iPhone or Droid?

Hi Dan!

Thank you for sharing your points. We will have to see what happens with the updates and improvements. I also have an iPhone 3G and am not switching just yet. I do hope it makes AT&T stay on their toes.

Re: Battle of the smartphones: iPhone or Droid?

I am on day three of the Droid and I am a very happy camper. I never had an Iphone so I couldn't compare it. I made the leap from a good old cell phone so I am amazed at what the Droid does

Re: Battle of the smartphones: iPhone or Droid?

Still love my iPhone but this is really great content. I liked it very much and agree that it is a pretty nice phone. I like also that it provides a serious innovation challenge to the iPhone (I have an iPhone 3G). This competition will hopefully keep Apple and AT&T on their toes.

But, and this is a big but, the Android OS will be different on every handset, varying wildly in capability, making it easy for Apple to point out that you're at the mercy of a carrier for updates vs the handset maker. Motorola can make all kinds of improvements, but Verizon has to agree to propagate the improvements. Of course AT&T has chosen not to do all of Apple's improvement (tethering for instance or their long delay in getting MMS out), but otherwise any OS updates are under Apple's purview.

That's a dramatic difference. Apple controls its eco-system, Google does not.
